Upon my arrival in Cambridge UK a good friend gave me the following list of recommendations. Too valuable to have it to myself, I put it up here.

They don’t take reservation and it can get very busy during the peak hours.
Make sure that you order the tiramisu as a dessert.- Hotel du Vin - French

Meeting point for the computer lab folks on Friday evenings- Do keep in mind that the safest pub food is burger!
